Scheduled Tournaments
In addition to Sit and Go tournaments, Get Gosu also offers Scheduled tournaments. Scheduled tournaments give the community an opportunity to gather together at a specific time and date to form a potentially massive online tournament (an infinite number of teams can join a Scheduled tournament)!
A Scheduled tournament will start at the predefined Start Time regardless of how many participants have Registered for the tournament. If a tournament is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM EST on a Tuesday, the tournament will start at 8:00 PM EST on that Tuesday whether ten participants or a thousand participants have registered.
The display of a Scheduled tournament’s Start Time is automatically adjusted to your personal Time Zone setting. You may want to visit your Profile Page to check that you have the Time Zone field set to your local time zone to make it easier for you to know when a Scheduled tournament will start.
When you create a Sit and Go tournament you pre-define the number participants that must be present in order for the tournament to start. Therefore, we know the number of participants that will ultimately play in a Sit and Go tournament ahead of time and we can post the Prize Pool Payouts for a Sit and Go tournament as soon as it is created. For Scheduled tournaments, we do not how many participants will register for the tournament until the tournament actually starts. Therefore, before a Scheduled tournament starts, the Payouts for the tournament will adjust dynamically as participants register for or leave the tournament. The Payouts for a Scheduled tournament are not finalized until the tournament’s Start Time is reached.
To join a Scheduled tournament for a game like Counter Strike Source you just need to make sure that you are on the Participant List before the tournament’s scheduled Start Time! Please keep in mind that you can only be registered in one tournament at a time, so if you register for a Scheduled tournament that does not start for a few days, and then register for another tournament that starts much sooner, you will automatically have been de-registered from the first tournament and will have to re-register.
All Scheduled tournaments are scheduled by Get Gosu Administrators. If you want to create your own tournament, for example for a clan war, then you should create a Sit and Go tournament and invite everyone that you can to the tournament to fill it up. If you prove yourself to be a worthy Sit and Go tournament promoter/organizer, then, if you want to, we may ask you to participate in the planning and promotion of some Scheduled tournaments.
